Der 14. Dalai Lama ist einer der großen, im tibetischen Buddhismus verankerten geistigen Führer unserer Zeit. In den letzten Jahren hat sich ein weltweites und stürmisches Interesse an seiner Person und seiner Botschaft entwickelt. – Der Film schildert das dramatische Leben eines Menschen, der im Alter von zwei Jahren zum Gottkönig bestimmt wurde, als 19-jähriger der Großmacht China die Stirn bieten musste und seit nunmehr über 50 Jahren für die Autonomie seines Volkes kämpft.

The 14th Dalai Lama is one of the great modern-day spiritual leaders positioned in Tibetan Buddhism. The last years have seen a global and ardent growth of interest in his persona and his message. – The film gives an account of the dramatic life of a man, who at the age of two is declared to be the god-king, as a 19 year-old forced to bravely stand up against the Great Power China and who has now fought for over 50 years for the autonomy of his people.
